Frequently asked

Questions

  • At Cottage Cabins, we're more than just a company; we're a family that understands the importance of home.

With deep roots in our community and professional memberships of the Tiny House Assoc. of Australia and the Tiny Homes Foundation, we have a proven commitment to quality. And as we deliver nationwide, we're here to provide you with not just a house, but a haven, no matter your location.

  • Discover the charm of our relocatable cottage-style homes—an exquisite blend between the comfort of a traditional house and the convenience of a caravan. Offering a unique middle ground, our homes are a step above caravans, yet these are not a Class 1a house.

Enjoy the flexibility of placing them on stumps, a slab, or a trailer. For guidance on local regulations, don't forget to check with your friendly local council about caravan laws.

These homes can be relocated to another site, just pack them up, and unpack at the new location.

  • At Cottage Cabins we truly believe “affordable” doesn't have to mean sacrificing aesthetics.

We've poured our heart and soul into designing and manufacturing homes with add-ons that transform your cottage to stand tall against any other home on the street.

Our Interior Designers have carefully selected and curated additions to our homes.

A couple of examples are the insulated external wall cladding (available in 142 different colours and textures), and the charming pitched gabled cottage roofs, we've spared no expense in making your home not only functional and affordable but also beautiful.

    Your dreams deserve nothing less.

Your cottage is more than just a house; it's where your story unfolds, where memories are made, and where your heart finds its sanctuary. At Cottage Cabins, we're honored to be a part of that journey with you.

  • There are 2 pathways forward to a granny flat, Caravan or Class 1a.

Irrespective of whether you choose a Relocatable Home or a Class 1a traditional home, a site assessment is strongly advised.

Prevent a budget blowout, and understand your options and costs for your particular site with a site assessment.

Site assessments offer peace of mind and understanding on what your individual site requires and for a small investment, understand the costs of a greater commitment.

Site Assessment are available for a small fee and can include:

It takes on average a crew of 4 about 2-3 days to fully assemble the Cottage. This does not include time for footings prior to your cottages arrival.

If assembly isn’t an option for you, we are able to assist! Please see Installation

A Plumber and an Electrician is required to connect your Cottage to water and power services.

  • We are based in SE QLD and can deliver Australia wide. Please ensure you have adequate access to your property for delivery.

  • Foundations and footings in construction are critical, as the footing distributes the weight of the building evenly across the entire structure so that it doesn't sink into the ground. A good footing will also help to prevent water and moisture from seeping into the foundation, which can cause cracks and other damage. Footings are usually concrete slabs or stumps.

Our Cottages require a slab, or 6 stump footings with a Cottage Cabins trailer, or 12 footings with no trailer. We do suggest you purchase a trailer however.

Cottage Cabins has a civil construction department and we are more than able to help advise you on what to consider and how to approach footings if you plan to project manage the works yourself.

Alternatively, you can subcontract that part of the works out to an experienced contractor in your area. Most clients arrange simple standard footing designs, however Cottage Cabins can assist here as well.

The main point, is while this is unfamiliar and for some at first overwhelming, it is in fact very simple and straightforward. Cottage Cabins will never leave a client without advice and support, so with us you are never alone.
